I upgraded my new XPS 8700 from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 immediately after initial setup and before creating a backup assuming that since the computer was new I'd be able to make my discs after setting everything up.
I'm getting a corrupted partition error message running Dell Backup and Recovery version 1.6.1.1.
The built in Microsoft Recovery tool complains "Some Required files are missing" and tells me to use my Windows installation disc.
I have not found a way to request the disc from Dell.
I am looking for advice on how to either fix the corrupted recovery partition or obtain discs which will allow me to reload Windows 8.
Here is the Dell Backup and Recovery error message:
Corrupted Environment
Dell Backup and Recovery has not been able to detect the Recovery Partition on this computer. It may be missing or corrupted. To recovery your computer to the original factory state and restore the Recovery Partition, please use your System Recovery Discs.
Any help would be most appreciated!
