I'm having trouble deploying Windows 8 Pro OEM that i extracted from the recovery-disk shipped with my Dell Latitude E6230.
My scenario is as follows:
My company sell Dell Products. Mainly Computers.
Sometimes the customers want us to re-install their computers for various reasons. Previously with Windows 7, we'd deploy the OEM-image, and various software (adobe reader, 7-zip, java, flash etc.) to the computers without problems. Windows activated itself, and all was good.
Now, with windows 8, this no longer works. When adding the Windows 8 OEM image to the MDT 2012 server, the computers that were originally shipped with windows 8 preinstalled won't activate. It can't detect the product key in the UEFI-firmware.
It works fine when installing directly from the recovery-media, but the process of installing takes far to long.
When checking the installation, it seems like the Windows version has been "converted" to a retail image. The Windows activation reports that the product-key used is invalid for activation. The key used, XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-CRYQH, is mentioned in forums as being a universal installation-key for windows 8 Pro Retail. I'm not even sure where the this key comes from.
Has anyone been able to do this successfully? And if so, how?
