My Dell laptop Inspiron 3520 seemed to be working fine until recently - it started Windows updates on its own and then shut down by itself in the middle of the update (not sure why, it was plugged in and battery was fine, nobody touched it). When I turned it back on, it would not go to Windows and stated that the PC needs to be repaired with an error message. It is stuck on this screen and I have tried many suggestions that I have seen online to try to get it to do a recovery or system restore. The laptop is no longer covered under warranty... though I do have the operating systems and drivers discs and am willing to wipe it and reinstall windows. At this point I don't mind losing or having lost data, I just want a working computer! I would appreciate any guidance as to how to proceed with reinstalling windows or any ideas of what to do.
Currently when I turn the laptop on it goes to a blue screen and says "Recovery; Your PC needs to be repaired; A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. Error code: 0xc000000f; You'll need to use the recovery tool on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer." The options it lists are "Press Enter to try again; Press F8 for Startup Settings; Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings" When I press Enter or F8, it flashes the same screen and will not do anything else. When I press Esc it goes to what I think is BIOS (?), but I don't know what to do with that.
