Over exposed Camera when outside

The camera on the Tablet,(Dell Latitude 10, Windows 8 re-install) well I have got it working in a fashion. It works in doors and I can change the camera from from to back and that seems to be OK. When I go outside with it it just whites out as if it is 100% over-exposed, bring it in doors again and you can see a picture, not the best one, but it can be seen. I have the setting on Auto exposure, which I assumed would be right. Is there a way of re-setting the camera exposure, or say another camera install that might be better than this one. 
Also I have been into the Store and it would appear the camera installed came from there. There seems to be other camera,s but they all say they would work better in 8.1. I was tying to take some photos of some properties for my son in the hope I could send them to him, Could anybody help please
