I have an Inspiron 660s that had a hard drive failure. I bought and installed a new hard drive but figured out that I need an OS. As with most computers now I did not receive a windows disk with the computer. I bought this computer 1 and a half years ago from dell.com. I do not have the product key on the computer and I can't get it from the hard drive because it is broken. I have no idea what to do at this point.
Would recovering data from the hard drive give me access to the product key?
What can I do at this point? Should I call dell for an installation cd? Or do I need to spend a lot of money and buy a new Windows 8?
