My Inspiron 3521 came pre-installed with WIndows 8.
I used Dell backup and Recovery to create a rescue USB.
I have now upgraded to Win8.1 and have been finding out about my options were I to have a problem.
It has been suggested that the Dell recovery USB may not work now that I have upgraded and that I should create a new rescue USB using Windows' own functionality. The reason for this is that the Windows created USB would include workarounds that would enable me to recover a Win8 OS (can't recover direct to Win8.1 it seems) over a Win8.1 installation.
Has anyone tried this? If so, can you comment or advise on the above please.
Also, I recovered my Windows8 product key using Belarc. There was a note saying that the key may not be my own individual key, but one used by the Dell. There is guidance on how to change my product key.
Is there a way that I can tell if my product key is unique to me, or a Dell one? If so, and it is a Dell one, is it recommended to change this to a new key?
Thank you
