XPS 8500 Won't Hibernate Automatically w/ Windows 8.1

For some reason I cannot get my Dell XPS 8500 to hibernate automatically. I've tried configuring my settings so that pressing the sleep button makes the computer hibernate, and it should automatically hibernate 1 minute of inactivity (just to test). If I use the keyboard button and manually make the computer hibernate it seems to work fine. If I try to leave it and let it hibernate on it's own though then nothing happens. If I change it to sleep after 1 minute then something happens and it turns off my monitors. The PC does not actually appear to do anything any different though since it's still draining about 40 watts of energy (the same as when it's not "sleeping"). Any ideas why it doesn't want to work correctly?
