I want to use my Dell screen (U2711) with my new Laptop.
On my old Computer (Windows 7) I was running the screen via DVI on its full resolution, anyhow the new Laptop (intel hd graphics 4000, nvidia geforce gtx 660m, Windows 8.1) only comes with an HDMI port.
I already updated all my drivers (Dell version 1.0.0.0 from 19.06.2012) but still the windows control center only allows full HD resolution and not the prefered WQHD. There are various post online that suggest to customize the resolution inside the Intel software, but as far as I know this only works for windows 7, since they changed the interface and with it the ability for customize the resolution.
I've been trying to work around this problem since two days now and as far as I know it's only a software problem or am I wrong?
