If my Dell laptop has been asleep for more than an hour or so, then when I try to wake it up I always get this blue screen message:
File:\windows\system 32\winload.efi
Oxc0000001
Your PC coiuldn't turn off properly. The application or OS couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors. You need to use the recovery tools on you installation media.
However, when I hit "return" the computer restarts (not wakes up) and boots into Windows 8.1 normally - every time.
Then when I try to enter the password I have set up to unlock the computer, I get a message that the password is invalid, and I need to go to accountlive.com to reset it. However, when I hit OK and reenter the password, the screen is always unlocked - every time.
It may be coincidental, but this seems to have started after I purchased and installed Dell Backup Premium.
I have tried to run the Dell diagnostics several times. I always get an indication that there is a problem with my internet connection. I am online at the time and can find no internet problem.
Anyone have any ideas how to solve this problem?
