We have just bought an Inspiron desktop with Win 8.1 installed, to replace an aged Inspiron 6000 laptop, running XP, that my wife uses reluctantly. She learned how to use Word 2000 on the old laptop and definitely does not want to learn a new version.
Word 2000 will not install, from an oem disk, on the Win 8.1 machine. An error message reports "Error 1919 Visual Foxpro Database ODBC error 6: component not found in the registry. Verify that file Visual Foxpro Database exists..."
I see that Visual FoxPro is no longer supported, and the last versions ran on XP or Win 2000, so I cannot install it preparatory to another attempt at getting Word 2000 to run on our new machine. Are we stymied, or is there a workaround?
Thanks. Martin.
