The HDD on my 2-year old Inspiron 2330 crashed. I do not have the recovery disc. I had to install a new 1 TB HDD. I am told that I can still recover the Windows 8 operating system since it resides on the motherboard. I do not have the recovery disc or any backup media. I do not have my product key because the software came with my computer. I cannot locate any key in the paperwork either. The MYDELL website relies solely on being able to access it from the problem computer to acces the service tag. Sinec I can't use the computer, there is no way it can read my service tag. I tried accessing the info from my Latitude E5530 but it will only allow me to add it and not the service tag for the Inspiron 2330. I have wasted countless hours trying to get the Windows 8 recovery disc only to be told that I have to buy it, yet, I cannot seem to find it on the Dell Website unless I can actually log in using the actual BROKEN computer. Can anyone help?By the way, aren't these HDD's supposed to last longer than 2 years? I guess it's back to HP for me.
