I have bought my Dell 14Z 5423 from USA and I have moved to India for a project. Dell gave me a USB Recovery Media and the media has stopped working. My laptop crashed recently and I have lost the Windows and data. Can I get a replacement recovery media USB or a DVD from Dell? Thanks

INSPIRON 7520 WINDOWS 8 OEM
Good evening everybody,
After quite some unsucessful researches, I decided to finally post my question to make it clear...
I have a Dell INSPIRON 7520 which came with windows 8 inside (so that is what we call an OEM version, right ?) It has been given to me back in the days in France but now i live in Canada.
I would like to do a clean the drive and install Windows 8.1 right from the start since I found my system quite slow after doing a reset with the option given by the system itself, and after all the endless windows updates to make it to 8.1 ...
So, is there someone around here who can tell me the options I have to do that ? Can I ask Dell for a win8.1 disk ?

I just did a clean install of windows 8 using a dell cd they sent me some time ago. It all went fine, till I booted it up and now I have NO wifi. The whole thing has gone. How do I get it back ??

Inspiron 3521, Clean Windows 8 install, no WIFI connection
I did clean re-install of windows 8 from a cd that Dell sent me when they first fixed my new computer. The reinstall programed on the computer was no good, so sent it back, they fixed it, but sent me an install only for dell cd for windows 8. Did the install, went to wireless in setup, it showed me the two options for wifi and airplane mode. When I clicked on airplane mode both option disappeared. Unable to find a way to get wifi. They also sent me a dell drivers disk, installed the wifi adapter they had, but when I go to device manager there is none. I have three objects with an exclamination point by them. They are Network Controller, PCT Simple Commuications Controller and VSB2.0 CRW. The install CD was for 3521/5521 and or 3721/5721. Right now I have no connection to the internet, unless I try an Ethernet connection. Why would I have this problem using a Dell Install CD? Can you help me get my wifi back so I can add my programs etc? Let me know how to reply to your answer also as I am new at this.

Need help regarding OS

I could not find exact solution through the forum or internet. So posting my question here.
I have A dell Inspiron 5542. It came loaded with windows 8.1. (the dell site shows this when service tag is entered. but does not specify which version ? home/professional/enterprise and which English US or UK.)
I upgraded the windows to 10, when the upgrade from Microsoft was available. It went well.
But unfortunately I did not note the version of windows nor do I remember it.
There was a HDD crash later, loosing the version and the license key. The new HDD mounted, but not sure about which windows version to install.
Please suggest so that I can restore the OEM licensed windows 10 on the laptop.

Cannot install Windows 8.1
Hi
I try to install Windows 8.1 on a Dell Latitude 5550 but I cannot go through the installer because it won't show me any hard disk., The disk is available in the bios but not in the Windows installer.
I read tons of article about it and I try to browse to drivers that I copied on a usb drive
I have tried these with no success

When I browse to the first one there are 10 choice possible and if I check the box to show only compatible I have 1 choice. None of them works and I can never see my hard disk.
I know the hard disk is working since it have an os installed at the moment
I have try to sed the bios to UEFI or BIOS
I have try to set the sata settings in the bios to AHCI, disable or raid, nothing is working
I have spent 10 hours on this so I really need some help

Dell OS Media Asking for Product Key
Hi,
I purchased an XPS 12 a few years ago which came with Windows 8 preinstalled. Recently the hard drive failed so I replaced the hard drive and purchased the Dell OS Media for my system as I did not have any recovery disks... however, when I try to install the OS on my new hard drive, I'm prompted for a product key.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alienware M17x R4 - HDD failure & no system restore discs
The HDD in my Alienware M17x R4 recently failed and I cannot find my system restore discs which I made when I purchased the machine in 2011. I have tried to purchase recovery discs from Dell ... but my requests have recently been ignored by Dell support and Dell Sales department. I live in Australia and am wondering if anyone else who owns the same machine might be able to provide me with a copy of the Recovery discs? I will gladly reimburse any costs to provide me with these discs. I need to be able to restore the recovery partition on the HDD. My system runs Windows 8.

Re-Installation without re-installation disks...
I have a Dell computer (Inspiron 15R 5534) that came with Windows 8. But there are no Windows 8 reinstallation disk. My computer has crashed and I need the disks to re-install the original operating system software (win8).
I assumed I could access this software on the dell website, but I have not been able to locate them. Can someone tell me how to re-install the software without the disks?

Inspiron 15 won't activate Windows 8.1 - no MSDM tab, nothing finds key in BIOS
I've been handed a non-booting laptop and found the hard drive is dead, I've popped WIndows 8.1 on it but it won't activate. I've tried RWEverything and each other key reading tool I can find and none of them can find a Windows 8/8/1 key, I've tried updating the bios to the latest and ensuring UEFI is enabled but still no luck.
The laptop has apparently never had a new motherboard although it did have a new hard drive under warranty in its first year. From reading topics here since the machine is out of warranty there's not much more I can do aside from purchase a license or look into W7 options but thought it's worth checking.

Factory Reset Dell Laptop, Windows 8 not getting activated throws error code 0xC004F074
Hi Team,
I have Dell Inspiron 15R, which came with pre installed Windows 8. I had its upgrade to Windows 8.1 and 10 as well with the same product key and dint face any issue doing so.
Recently, I had some software issue, which was making my system slow. So I did a factory reset on my laptop using the Dell backup and recovery tool. The laptop was up and running with Windows 8, but the activation was not proper the expiry date for the product key was provided with one month.
I tried activating the product key of the Windows 8, it throws with Error code 0xC004F074. I googled the error code did almost everything to resolve the activation, with no success.
Could you please how to proceed further?

Dell Inspiron R15 5521 with Windows 10 - Issues with Waking Up After Sleep
I got a Dell Inspiron R15 5521 with Windows 10. The power button on my computer has a tendency to get stuck and thus I am trying to minimize the times that I need to use it.
Is there a way for me to wake the computer up with the mouse or keyboard from sleep mode?
I can currently wake it up from sleep by closing and opening the lid but not by using the mouse or lid. I have already checked to ensure that I have the latest drivers for both the keyboard and the mouse. I have also checked their setting and could not find any power management options on my computer.
In addition, I would like know if I can wake the computer up from hibernate mode with mouse, keyboard or lid.

Dell Latitude E6400 Upgrade to Windows 8.1 64 bit Drivers
I have two Latitude E6400 laptops that I am upgrading to Windows 8.1 64 bit. Problem is I can not find
the drivers needed. Dell does not list the 8.1 drivers for the E6400 on their support site and support
has been no help. They would rather sell new then help keep older perfectly functioning system operating.
Anyone know where they can be found?
I am doing a clean install on a new SSD drive. It has 4gb of RAM.

How to clean install W8.1 Pro over W10 on an XPS 13 9350
I have a new XPS 13 9350 - I want to replace W10 with a clean install of W8.1
I have a USB with the 8.1 install on it and i can initiate this process - however when i get to the point where i am asked where to install it, the process cannot find the SSD
I am asked "Where do you want to install Windows?" Followed by "We couldn't find any drives". Then I have an option to "load driver". But I am not sure what driver is needed
I did read somewhere that i should untick the 'RAID' option in BIOS which might show me the SSD
but i also read that possibly, i also need controller drivers for the chipset, however that was for a slightly different process so i need to know if that is the case.
If so I think i have found the correct drivers here:

but clearly i want to make sure i am doing the right thing - i have a support tag but my e-mail has not yet been answered and i am keen to carry out the install.
Can someone give me a plain English step-by-step as to how to get through the rest of the process
btw i know i do need wifi drivers and i already have those on the USB.

Restoring all in one model to original factory setting
I need assistance reinstalling the software which came with my insperion 20 all in one. I have not had internet service for over 9 months and when I finally was able to get back service, all the updates must have caused chaos in my computer as I'm having issues...including: not able to open a window (it will try to open a million and create a short cut on my desktop but the window never opens), I can not download dell detect, functions like recovery are not working (times out) and so forth. Irealize being off line for 9 months is an issue but I was unemployed and had to make some unfortunate inconvient decisions. My all in one didn't come with a disc. At one point I was running windows 10 but that isn't an option anymore either. Any help you have for me is so appreciated and needed.

So after many phone calls in the past with little to no results I figured out how to repair my 7720 laptop that had an issue with the secure bios password. Got another mother board but had to get the drive from Dell , I now have the laptop working and installed the drive, low and behold the install comes up in a completely foreign language. No English version seen .

Hi guys I have a very bad problem with my Laptop Dell inspiron 15r 5537
Everytime I shut down, restart, sleep/hibernate it freezes the PC itself.When I shut down, it doesn't shut down completely ( gives power on when shuting down) same goes to sleep/hibernate, gives power on and pressing power button that doesn't work either with other.But sometimes shut down and sleep/hibernate works and most of the time didn't work.
Please guys, I want to stop this problem from be happening everytime.

Master File Table contains a corrupted file record Inspiron 5558
Event viewer displayed an error message Master File Table contains a corrupted file record . This system has no other symptoms. I have run chkdsk /f and it did clean up/moving of the files it did not fix the MFT. Can this been done with utility Dell Backup and Recovery or do I need a 3rd party program such as TestDisk?

Unable to Shutdown or Hibernate Inspiron 15 5558
Win 8.1
When I try to shut down the system using Windows Shutdown , the system returns to the windows login screen. I do not use the hard power switch as it has always caused improper shutdown.
The system can sleep, but not shutdown or hibernate. This just occurred in the last week. A pop showing "Airplane Mode is On/off" in the Windows login screen and will toggle each time I try to shut down. I have tried shut off the laptop wifi, but this made no difference. There are two Event 1001, which I can post details if needed. These did not occur after all the no-shutdowns, just the latest.

Reinstall Windows from Backup DVD
I have a dell laptop 15R 5521 bought almost 4 years back. During that time itself, i created a Factory reset backup DVDs using Dell Backup and recovery software. During that time OS was Windows 8 and i have continuously updated the system and now using Windows 10.
Now last week my hard disk got damaged, so i replaced it and am trying to reinstall using those DVDs, but could not install. It is showing a message like
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
Status: 0xc0000185
Info: A required device is not connected or can't be accessed.
Now please help me what to do to reinstall the windows using those DVDs. It was a total of 4 DVDs and i started this process with 1st DVD. Just for information.

Cyberlink PowerDVD bought with Dell XPS 8500, is there a license key?
Hello.
In 2012 I bought a DELL XPS 8500 configuration and Cyberlink PowerDVD software together with it. However I cannot find any license key for PowerDVD written anywhere on paper or in the electronic order that I have. I have the software installed and I think I can get it through Dell Digital Delivery but is there really not license key to identify my ownership of this software?

Hi! I have Dell Inspiron 3521 which was given to me by my sister. It has Windows 8 installed originally, then I upgraded it into 8.1. I used it for over a year since she gave me but then, it's original hard disk died. It was stuck for a year when I finally decided to buy a new hard disk but sadly, the hard disk didn't have an operating system. "An operating system was not found" error while trying to reinstall windows
Hi everyone,
I had windows 10 installed on my Dell Inspiron 7720 laptop for around a year. I wanted to roll back to windows 8.1, so i downloaded the usb media from microsoft website.I booted from the pen drive and formatted all the drives. After that I proceeded to install windows 8.1. When the setup had just started copying files, my laptop shut down due to low battery. Now when i am trying to boot from usb or dvd, i am getting an error saying "An operating system was not found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to resart".
Also, when I am trying to change the boot order or to load default settings in bios, I am getting an error - "FORMSET 98FBBCFB-1392-4FDE-ABB8-C41CC5AD7D6D
Failed to save storage: Boot_mem-Boot_ITEMS. Status Access Denied"
Someone suggested me to reset the bios by reseating the CMOS Battery. Did that but still getting same error. I have run out of idea now, and desperately need help. If someone has any suggestion, please help me out.

dell latitude 10 st2e drivers on website are corrupted or not fixed.
I recently got a dell latitude 10 st2e from a friend and wanted to reset it. I did and then all the drivers were gone as expected, but when i went to get them from the dell website. the drivers would work. for example the intel drivers on the dell website started a boot loop, i got in to the main desktop and it instantly shut down everytime until i reset it again. so dell im asking for a request to fix all the drivers or give me older drivers that work. thank you

Okay, so I just fixed my Dell Inspiron 3520 from the windows 10 upgrade, and tried to upgrade it back to Windows 8, for my laptop is a Windows 7, I did everything for my computer to upgrade, and it took me to startup repair, and it keeps telling me to use a disc I never had. Help!

Black screen with cursor after login, then computer won't start up to login
Hi, I'm using a Dell Inspiron 15 with Windows 8 and was having an issue where videos were not playing and restarted my computer, left the room for a minute and came back to see it was updating. When the update completed I was able to log on, but there was only a black screen with a cursor. I tried restarting my computer and had the same result, and followed the first bit of advice in this thread (here) as the issue described was the same, and successfully opened the task manager to have the system boot in safe mode. However, when I restarted my computer it did not progress past the boot screen where I was greeted with nothing but a black screen. This has happened every time I have restarted and I am unable to access safe mode or log on normally, although I can reach the Advanced Startup Options screen.
Is there any way to fix this issue?
